My name is Carlos Santamaria, and I am originally from El Salvador. I would describe myself as friendly, quiet, and motivated by continuous learning. I enjoy exploring different cultures, history, and travel experiences because they expand how I see the world and connect with people.

In terms of language, my short-term goal is to continue improving my fluency and confidence in English, especially in academic and professional contexts such as presentations and networking. My long-term goal is to become fully bilingual, with technical vocabulary and intercultural communication skills, to represent my organization internationally.

Critical and creative thinking helps us solve simple and complex problems more easily when we organize our ideas. During the course, I was able to identify my challenges when learning a new language and have tried to solve them creatively. For example, there are words that I find more difficult than others, so I managed to identify them and practice by listening to videos and using tools that help me improve my pronunciation.

The last experience in “Great Wall of China” where I worked in a group, I think it's better to learn best when working together and sharing ideas. The professor integrated group projects, strengthening students communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills through collaboration. As a result, teamwork creates a positive atmosphere and helps students understand complex concepts more easily.

Honesty and fairness are critical in any learning environment. Without integrity, the value of education is reduced. For example, when students demonstrate good judgment and avoid misbehavior, such as plagiarism or other unethical practices, they show respect for the context and their learning process. As a consequence, the classroom atmosphere improves and teachers trust students more.

Working with my partner on this project, “Great Wall of China,” was significant for me because his help facilitated me understand a better way to do it. He could transmit the ideas, and we could both work on them. As a result, we can give a beautiful presentation to other people and tell them about a spectacular structure that has lasted for hundreds of years.

Since I started, I've seen my own progress. I've managed to increase my level of critical thinking as a student and have achieved a higher level of clearer communication with my teachers and classmates. With a lot of effort and practice, I've managed to get closer to the level I need to advance and understand more complex and technical language. Much of this progress is due to the feedback from my teachers, who are very helpful with their comments.

I reviewed my progress in the spring, summer, and fall seasons and took notes to identify my failures. Then, I sent a message to my teacher to let her know she could help me with her feedback. This way I could improve my speaking, writing, and listening.

Overall, when people apply different learning methods, such as communication in groups and critical and creative thinking, and practice all methods they can, they make better progress daily. Usually, you don't see your progress until somebody tells you because we are skeptical of ourselves. In my case, I think it has happened.

My experience working with my partner was very positive. I provided feedback, and he responded to mine. This is truly helpful. It teaches us to be critical and creative in our thinking and responsive to the ideas of others. It helps us integrate and has succeeded in group tasks.
