1. Shakespeare shows both mental and physical conflicts relating to the characters of his plays.
2. Shakespearean Tragedies have a character whose downfall is related to a flaw in their personality or actions, and this downfall often has to do with supernatural powers and/or "fate".
3. Characters in these plays are usually of high wealth, at least in the beginning of the play, and by the end lose something. This is one way that Shakespeare connects to tragedies in life. Throughout these connections he makes foul things seem fair, such as the act of revenge (sometimes leading to one's death). Through this he yet more connects to tragedy in life.
