This song was chosen because Carrie Nation went to jail for attacking/ damaging saloons and bars but as soon as she got out she continued attacking saloons. She had a bold personality/ attitude and when she was caught one while smashing saloons by a police officer, he said he ought to arrest her and she replied, "Go ahead! This song was chosen because Kansas, (the state where Carrie lived) was a prohibition state at the time, (meaning alcohol was illegal) but government officials didn't do anything about the open saloons and bars selling liquor all across Kansas. Although this is a fictional conversation, Carrie Nation's first husband was an alcoholic and Carrie has said it brought out the worst in him.
