The Hunger Coalition is a non-profit organization in Bellevue, ID that focuses on eliminating food insecurity. This is an important resource for students, as they supply snacks to schools and help provide students' families with groceries. They also run programs in the summer for children in collaboration with the Community Library in Ketchum to provide kids a place to go during the summers, as well as host workshops on cooking and registering to vote.

This resource indicates many students' understanding of our need in the valley for support and change to better feed the Wood River Valley families.

This can be incorporated into classroom instruction by having workshops hosted by The Hunger Coalition about healthy eating.

This resource cultivates a diverse community by hosting events which celebrate the people and their cultures from around the valley. For example, they hold mole-fest every year, wherein they have chefs from around the valley make different types of mole (a type of sauce) from the regions of Mexico.

Hailey has several recreational areas for winter activities, primarily a skiing. This greatly shapes the culture of the Wood River Valley.

There are several facets to the Fund of Knowledge this may provide. There are influxes of skiers that travel to the valley to ski. Students grow up getting to know both people with a lot of money and people with little from this. Many students grow up skiing and sledding here.

This can be incorporated in the classroom by centering classroom activities with questions about skiing and snowboarding.

This contributes to cultivating a diverse community because there are many people who come together to participate in one activity

Quigley Trails Park has a series of pump tracks, jump lines, and flow lines for mountain bikers. They have all the way from beginner to expert trails. This is located right near the high school, making it very accessible to mountain bikers.

This indicates the culture and recreation around the community. There are opportunities for outdoor recreation, and many students participate in this by mountain biking either on teams or as a hobby.

This can be incorporated into classroom instruction by asking questions to a class, connecting curriculum to their interests in mountain biking. Because the park is so close to the school, a trip to the park is also possible.

This contributes to cultivating a diverse community through providing land for people to explore new experiences and activities.

The LDS church in Hailey has a rather prominent community.

Many students come to school right after seminary has finished. This resource indicates that there is a population of LDS students in the school who have background in that religion.

This can't be directly incorporated into classroom instruction, as classes should be secular as to address all students from all religious/nonreligious backgrounds. I do think, however, if a student talks or writes about experiences they are having (i.e. going on a trip with their church), there are ways to engage with all students to let them know you are interested in their experiences without making your curriculum centered around promoting religious beliefs.

This resource cultivates a diverse community by adding a space for people to practice their religion in Hailey.

Friedman Memorial Airport is a sight that's unavoidable when living in Hailey. It sits right along Highway 75, the road that connects the entire valley. It's a small airport that brings in many visitors during the summer.

Many students grow up listening to the planes fly in and out. Students get to meet or see many different people from all over the world because of this point of access. They can also get jobs at the airport, furthering a student's practical funds of knowledge.

This resource can be implemented in math classrooms. Writing word problems and calculating questions about airplanes would allow students to solve problems that they have a point of reference for already.

This contributes to diversity by bringing in people from all parts of the world.

CSI is a branch of the CSI in Twin Falls, ID. It is in the Community Campus building, and provides college classes for those who desire to do so in Hailey.

CSI in Hailey allows high school students many opportunities. Taking college classes in tandem with high school classes is entirely possible, and students can explore more programs, such as becoming Certified Nursing Assistants, which contributes to our students' funds of knowledge.

This can be incorporated into classroom instruction through students taking dual credit courses with their high school and CSI. This will allow students to gain college credits in high school.

This cultivates a diverse community because it allows in person college classes for a community that otherwise has no higher education.
