They might see how much water the individual households consume in an area by checking how much water flows to their pipes. For regions where people get water from lakes, they would estimate how many bowls of water they bring home a day per household and then fotr the whole region.

Energy is something all of us need, be it for light, heat or comfort. This is somethings that many desire more of and with the growing use of technologies such as phones, computers and other devices, energy has grow from a privilege to a necessity. With the growing population this necessity has grown enormously. Specifically the consumption of energy increased drastically over the years. This is most likely due to the many developments that LEDCs have made to their infrastructure and the mass urbanization which is happening all around the world. Due to this the consumption of energy increased with the different ways in which it can now be produced. Specifically, the highest consumers of energy are:
China, USA, Russia, India, and Japan.
The graph below further shows the other countries with the highest energy consumptions excluding USA and China.

Although the life expectancy is increasing (people live longer)and there is a falling child mortality (less people die) the global population growth will slow down further and further. This is because the fertility rates decrease. Instead of getting 5 children the average women now only gets 2 children. This dramatically effects the population growth. The population growth reached its peak in the late 1960's. At this point there was a increase of 2 percent. Currently it is only half of this value.

This is a graph of the expected population growth by Unesco.
