The lack of diversity was a real loss for the Reunion. My wife & I attended, but felt we were treated/received as "other." Strive to bring more students of color back. Would love a panel where they got to express their experiences within the RC. This is a part of RC history that most RC students did not experience. Yet, the Black Action Movement changed the University for the better and RC played a big role in that as the 3rd college to shut down in support of the strike. A review of the Representative Assembly minutes of that meeting would be historically very informative.

If a group of RC Friends (alumni, faculty, staff, AND especially current students) meets or connects on a regular basis (like we did when we planned the 30th), it builds a multigenerational and inclusive network. And the RC staff person planning the next reunion and other events has that group as a resource. Many of the ideas already mentioned here can be easily developed and worked on by such a group (mentorship network, friend-raising gatherings, career and interest groups. Bringing students in cultivates them as engaged alumni in the future. Tap faculty and advisors (who know RC students) to identify students to be involved in addition to having students volunteer. When we planned the 30th the ratio of alumni: students in the planning group was 1:1.

Several were hoping to be on a panel of alumni working in the field. Areas they proposed to me for panels and chats with larger groups were: activism (many are working to change the prison system); getting involved in politics for the first time; education, and health care. It could be relatively easy to connect people with experience in these areas with current students (or bring them in to talk to students during the year).
