This approach viewed ones past experiences as the cause for their current emotional challenges and focused on unconscious processes as well as long term treatments.          <title>The Second Force</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The second force was established from the research and work of B.F. Skinner, Albert Ellis, Aaron Beck, William Glasser, and Donald Meichenbaum. This force focused on behavioral and cognitive theories and interventions. Behavioral treatment approaches were used in the 1970's. In the 1980's cognitive approaches were created. Then in the 1990's cognitive-behavorial approaches were used. Cognitive and behavioral approaches focus on thoughts and actions, the interventions replace negative thoughts and actions with positive ones. <br><br></div>]]></description>

Therapists have to understand each client on an individual level to create an effective treatment plan for each one. Networking and collaboration are a large part. Newer approaches were created such as; narrative therapy, dialects, and therapies that incorporate Eastern thoughts and philosophies to play a role in helping people change their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. <br><br></div>]]></description>
