Winston Rebelling

Was it worth it to rebel for Winston? He never actually made an impact on anyone else on the outside, because he was caught and "fixed" before he could have influence on anyone else. The only other person who knew was Julia, but never took it past them two. It was not worth it to rebel on such a small scale as he was, considering the punishments and every thing it caused. Winston in the big picture did not succeed in bringing down The Party, but he was not completely brainwashed either.

Both parties, Winston from 1984, and Edward Snowden the whistle-blower, both committed a crime against their government. Therefor they both risk suffering large consequences, a little different, as one really happened and one is a fictional book. Winston was tortured and brainwashed and drugged until they believed he was no longer harm to them. Snowden however was never caught, he fled to Hong Kong and leaked the files, later finding sanction in Russia. Snowden is being charged him with theft of government property, and

In total, was it worth it to become a whistle-blower for Snowden? He was successful and exposed NSA for what they were doing, however he can no longer return to his home country, or be charged and imprisoned. In my opinion, Edward Snowden succeeded completely in going against the government. He stole secret files, exposed them for what they were doing, got away with it and ran, and still hasn't been caught or arrested. To many, Snowden is a hero. He brought to view something

Even after all the trauma and torture they put Winston through, in an attempt to brainwash him,he still in the end of the book is found writing 2+2=4 on the dusty cafe table. Was Winston a traitor or a hero? It depends on who you ask. To everyone who is so much so under control of big brother, they would despise him and consider him a traitor. However, to anyone who sees his cause and understands, they may be envious and maybe even idolize him. It's all about perspective.

that a lot of people didn't even know was going on, or those who just speculated but couldn't prove it. The NSA was spying on US citizens without their knowledge, and Edward Snowden brought that to everyone's attention. To the large majority, he is a hero.
