Do you agree with Ratliff’s arguments regarding this musical element? Why or why not?

Yes I agree with Ratliff's argument regarding the musical element of closeness. The element of closeness is definitely overlooked because we look at all the other musical elements more because we can visualize them. I agree because closeness is not something that I generally or consciously do when I am listening to music. It is one of those elements that you really have to think about to understand and find it

Examine at least one musical example in Ratliff’s playlist in detail – how does it exemplify this musical concept?

One of Ratliff's musical examples that I picked was the Beatles "When I Get Home". This song really exemplifies the element of closeness. You can hear all the instruments playing at the same not but not necessarily at the same time. At one point when I was watching the music video I could hear and see the exact moment that the guitar and drums played together.

Find at least one musical example outside of Ratliff’s playlist and justify its inclusion – how does it exemplify this musical concept?

The song that I picked outside of Ratliff's playlist that I think exemplifies the musical concept of closeness is the song by Vanessa Carlton " A Thousands Miles". I think that it exemplifies closeness because you can constantly throughout the song how the instruments play together.
