<title>1989: Factor: Entrepreneurship. Scudamore noticed that there were no professional junk removal companies in Vancouver, and he decided to start his own. After struggling to find his passion and purpose in life, Scudamore dropped out of college and began searching for a business opportunity. One day, he saw a beat-up old pickup truck with &quot;Rubbish Removal&quot; written on the side and was struck by the simplicity and potential of the idea. With just $700, Scudamore bought an old truck and started &quot; The Rubbish Boys&quot; in Vancouver, Canada in 1989. He spent the early years of his business driving the truck himself, hauling away junk and debris from people&#39;s homes and businesses. As the business began to grow, Scudamore realized that there was a huge demand for professional, reliable junk removal services. https://www.npr.org/2018/06/07/590234095/1-800-got-junk-brian-scudamore </title>

<title>1994: Factor: Land. Scudamore decides to fire his entire staff (11 employees). Scudamore called them &quot;bad apples&quot; and wanted his company to be the best it can be.&quot; The business wasn’t delivering good customer service, it wasn’t friendly and we weren’t smiley. It was time for a change.&quot; After much reflection and discussion with his management team, Scudamore made the difficult decision to fire his entire staff of 11 employees. He felt that this was the only way to start fresh and build a team that was fully committed to the company&#39;s vision and values. The decision was not easy, and Scudamore acknowledges that it was one of the most difficult things he has ever had to do. However, he also believes that it was the right decision for the company in the long run.In the aftermath of the incident, Scudamore worked tirelessly to rebuild the company from the ground up. He focused on hiring new employees who shared his vision and values, and he worked to create a culture that was truly aligned with the company&#39;s goals.</title>
