Pack clothes for each day in separate bags. If you put all your socks in one bag then they could all get ruined. Instead pack clothes for each day, so that you won't lose all of one article of clothing.

Backpacks need to have everything you might need for a day of hiking. The total weight of the backpack should be no more than 1/6 of your body weight, so we'll pack minimally. Pack at least 2 liters of water to stay very hydrated. A first aid kit should be packed just in case(equipped with band aids, antibacterial gel, etc). Sunscreen and bug spray are good because you'll have extended exposure to sun and outdoors. We would pack MountainHouse freeze dried meals. They weight very little, but contain full meals with nutrients. We'll need more water to cook those with, and a small pot to boil the water. Our final checkpoint is clothing for our backpack. We need hats, and anything to cover our face and neck from extended sunlight. If it is cold, we use 3 layers of clothing: our base layer is a wool layer, which helps wick sweat away from your body so it can evaporate; the middle layer is a fleece insulation to help keep our body heat within us; the final outside layer is a water-proof, wind-proof, breathable jacket to keep all the cold and bad weather off our body.

Sleeping is essential to having a successful, healthy day. The most important thing is your sleeping bag. The thing about them is that your body creates warmth, not your sleeping bag. If we use simple Coleman bags, but sleep in minimal clothing, like just long underwear, will be most effective. Our tent will be REI quarter dome tents. They sleep 2 comfortably, but we will fit 3 so that we get some body heat too.

Bear proofing our camp area at night will ensure no bears or other wildlife smell us out or see us, and might harm us or something. Tying your garbage up high onto a tree ensure no bears can get to your garbage, and they won't smell it as much. Minimal impact camping ensures that when you leave the site, it's not clear you were just there. Putting out your fires correctly and safely, and also not destroying or disturbing the wildlife around you.

Camping is a great way to explore the wilderness and our great environment. The key, though, is to make sure you're well prepared for each day and the trip, and make sure you respect everything around you in the wild, not killing or destroying animal's homes and plants is why we have campsites. There's a neutral message received between all campers to respect each other and all of the environment, and that's our main focus.
