Casey is resilient. I know this because in the story when his sister said he could not look the way he wanted to, he didn't let him get that down. He continued to be himself even when others were critical. This illustrates that Casey is resilient because he doesn't care about what other people think.

Casey is secure and curious. I know this because in the text Casey asks "Why?" every time someone tells him that boys can't wear sparkles or skirts or nail polish. By asking "Why" he forces others to rethink what they have said. He is curious because he wants to know why people think the way they do.

The setting was at school and at home. It influenced the plot, because these are the places that Casey did not feel accepted, and added to the tension in the story.
