Establish a system or method to create a community of learners, and encourage friendship and teamwork

During our daily calendar, I integrated a portion where the "calendar helper" would choose classmates to assist them when they needed a refresher on how to write numbers/letters. I also incorporated a portion where the "calendar helper" would choose friends to help come up with words that begin with the letters of the week. This allowed students to have teacher-guided conversations with each other about their letters, which allowed room for teamwork as well as friendship.
