It was opened in November 2008.  It was built under the presidency of John Agyekum Kufour. I think it is beautiful not because of its structure but what it represents. It represents my home, Ghana. The mosque houses a Quran from 1650 believed to have been gifted to Yidan Barimah Bramah from heaven, who was the Imam at the time. This mosque is located in Larabanga, West Gonja District, in the Northern region of Ghana. The mosque was built by Ayuba, an Islamic trader who had a dream while resting by a mystic stone. In the dream, he was ordered to build the mosque. This is a great and powerful sight, which is considered the Mecca of West Africa.
