The doctors eyes represents a watcher of some sort. In the valley of ashes people get caught easily because they don't have money. People with money think that they can get away with anything. For example, Daisy drove away after murder. There is a lot of scandalous things going on and not a lot of people know the full story, except T.J because he is always watching.

The green light is presented in the novel in Chapter 1, you see Gatsby reach out for this light. The green light marks the end of Daisy and Tom's dock. This symbol represents Gatsby hopes and dreams for his future. In Chapter 1, Gatsby reaches out toward the darkness to the green light to show how he's trying to guide to his goal.

These things represent wealth and how easy it is to present as being rich. Gatsby has a whole library but when you look at the book they are uncut. When he talks about his shirts, we see how expensive and how many he has but when we really think about it he doesn't wear all of them.

These cars represent new/ old money and also wealth in general. For example, Gatsby's car is elaborate and colorful (over the top) while Toms is plain and classy. The symbol of this shows the divide between new and old money since old money is classier and simple while new money is elaborate. In both cars wealth is shown which back in this time was a way to show you're better than others.

His parties represent how he is lonely so he has parties to surround himself by people, and show them his riches to somehow make friends. His shirts just represent how wealthy he is. I think the uncut books symbolize that Gatsby is hiding his real story, just like how there are stories in the books but you cannot read them since they are uncut.

Cars seem to be idolized through the beginning of the story, Gatsby’s car is new and it interest Toms enough to drive it which stirrs the whole situation after Daisy runs over Myrtle. As much as Cars are idolized it also seems related to destruction and carelessness. During the end of Gatsbys party there a Car Crash that happens because of one’s drunkness and he doesnt seem to relaize what he’s really done to cause the accident. Before Mytrle dies, Nick even hints to “driving through death” Which indicates to Myrtle’s death, Daisy is still unstable after the argument in the hotel which causes her to make a reckless descison to run over myrtle then crash into a car.
