While taking advanced placement and honors courses in English, math, and science, he engaged in DECA competition, which involves the creation and development of international business plans. Charles Gielow’s plan made it to the international championships after placing first at both the district and state levels.

Charles Gielow also has a history of involvement with the high school ping-pong club and the suicide awareness/prevention nonprofit Shout Out Loud. Participating in the School of Rock program since 2013, he has become a highly skilled bass player and a member of both the elite School of Rock House Band and his own project, I-35. Mr. Gielow served as a summer camp counselor with the School of Rock in both 2021 and 2022, instructing campers from age 5 to 12 in bass and guitar.
