         <description><![CDATA[<div> Students need to be taught effective study strategies, often referred to as study skills (Iris Module).<br>  Students, especially those with learning difficulties, need to be explicitly taught specific study skills strategies as well as when, where, and how to use them. This can help students succeed in the classroom. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Effective Strategy Instruction</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1.<strong>Explicit Instruction-</strong> This is described as teaching the specific steps of strategy, and then discussing how, when, where, and why we would use that specific strategy.  <br>2. <strong>Guided Practice</strong>- This is described as providing ample opportunities for students to practice the strategy, and making sure to offer guidance and feedback to students.<br>3. <strong>Independent Practice- </strong> This is described as allowing students to use the strategy independently and continue to monitor their performance, and provide feedback to the student. <br>4. <strong>Self-Regulation Strategies-  </strong>This allows teachers to encourage students to be self-directed in their learning by  teaching them to use strategies such as the self-monitoring and goal settings. <br>5. <strong>Maintenance and Generalization-  </strong>This is described as incorporating activities that encourages students to use the strategy. </div>]]></description>
