Last, is this a true story, or just based on the events of the holocaust but never actually happened?
Also, a fact that I learned from the holocaust museum is that poor jewish communitys or towns are called the ghetto, and that is where the term originally came from. Also, there was this girl named Ann Frank who died in concentration camps, but she kept a diary so her father found the diary and published it as a book. Those are just a few facts that I learned at the museum.

Answer: I believe that the most important part of the story has been when Aunt Geraldine and Jean-Paul were going across the demarcation line.
Reason 1: It was probably the most suspenseful part in the story. Especially when the guard said he would shoot the back of the truck with a rifle.
Reason 2: This is the homecoming of Aunt Geraldine and Jean-Paul, because no one has seen them for over a year. Also, many people were worried for them wondering if they were alive. Especially Gustave.
