Academic writing can be challenging because you have to use different words and flow than what you use in everyday speech. I think academic writing can be intimidating to take on for that reason.

• Academic writing is important because we can share ideas with different fields of study :)

• Academic writing can be difficult because sometimes I find it hard to write concisely or express my argument without writing too much, and writing argumentatively can be hard for me too

• I expect to learn in this course how to teach English academic writing by learning from everyone!

The expectations is that after the course I would feel comfortable writing proposal or paper.

1) It should be more professional rather than casual.

2) We have to express our research in brief way so that everyone outside of our field can also easily understand.

3) Not to be conflict the way of other writings is my difficulty.

4) My expectations from this is to get an overall view of Research paper.

I hope to get to write more so I can gain practice, because I think that would be very useful for my future.

Rozario, Thoughts about academic writing-

Academic writing will help me to articulate my thoughts and logical arguments structurally, coherently and rhythmically to express my opinion fully, completely and explicitly to my intended audiences.

Academic writing is used in academic contexts like universities and I have always found it hard in English. The most difficult skill in learning English as a foreign language is writing. Choosing the best structures to convey my thoughts and actually translating my thoughts from my L1 to English is the most challenging part. Using correct collocations and words special to a field also is another tough part. I like to work on my academic writing skills practically and get feedback for my drafts and be informed of my personal writing problems. And I like be able to improve my skills at writing papers significantly.
