King Leopold II- King Leopold II was the ruler of Belgium who deceitfully advocated for philanthropy and executed the Congolese genocide. In 1885, King Leopold overtook the Congo after seeing the use of rubber and ivory for kinds of products like teeth, piano keys, figurines, jewelry, and etc. King Leopold expected perfection when producing these products and everywhere else in society so much that people would be maimed if done incorrectly. The Congolese people were used as free labor for natural resources all around the Congo. He killed up to at least 10 million Congolese people alone through the harsh conditions and treatment of the citizens.

Afrikaners-  Afrikaners or Boers are South African citizens of European descent (mostly Dutch) who speak the language Afrikaans. The Dutch East India Company sent people to establish territory in South Africa and the people who stayed became known as Afrikaners. When British colonizers came to South Africa in 1795, the Afrikaners attempted to fight them off and maintain their freedom, but ultimately, GB overtook the Afrikaners' colony.

Italian invasion of Ethiopia-  Because Ethiopia was able to defend their country, Ethiopia was the only uncolonized African country during the Age of Imperialism. But in 1935, Italian leader Benito Mussolini successfully invaded Ethiopia when emperor Haile Selassie was exiled. When Ethiopian citizens appealed to the League of Nations, they were dismissed which led to nationalist protests across the country.

From November 1884 to February 1885, 14 European countries including GB, Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Portugal , and many others met together to discuss the continent of Africa. Although this meeting stopped a potential war among countries during the "Scramble for Africa", it was much to Africa's disadvantage. By the end of the conference, they had devised a plan of action for dividing African territory without consent. This led to an outburst of wars across Africa between the natives and foreigners. The new European-built borders forced a melting pot of culture formed from different African and European countries.
