CurricuColour is not designed for play based learning as by nature, play based learning works on the premise that children are the leaders of their learning and this can take on many various forms. The principles of CurricuColour can, however, be used to ensure challenge, mastery and consolidation of learning across continuous provision both inside and outside of class.

SEN in KS1 Is supported through the colour system - the red statement in Year 1, for example, would be taken from the EYFS framework. An intervention could be monitored and assessed through the CurricuSEN system which would monitor their specialist provision, As discussed today, if a child is consistently not accessing the curriculum (i.e. empty dot), this would trigger involvement from the inclusion team who would explore the SEN. We also have a group of children in Y1 working on the pre-key stage standards who just use effort faces. Dan T
