This eTwinning project connects students from Italy and Turkey to explore and share their cultural traditions during the winter holiday season. We are three teachers from Olbia and two teachers from Istanbul. Through collaborative activities, our students will create personalized holiday greeting cards. Each student will also introduce themselves, their school Life and about the city, too. The work will be shared in TwinSpace using safe and interactive tools. The project promotes English language skills, cultural awareness, creativity, and digital competence in an inclusive and engaging way.

My name is Alessandra, and I am one of the teacher involved in this eTwinning project. I teach students aged 10 to 14 in two small towns. 

I really love travelling and getting to know new cultures, traditions, and ways of life. This passion strongly influences my teaching. One of my main goals as a teacher is to help my students become curious, respectful, and open to cultural diversity.

Through projects like eTwinning, I want my students to understand that learning a language is not just about grammar, but also about connecting with people, sharing ideas, and feeling part of a wider European and global community.

Promoting cultural understanding is an important part of my teaching. Learning about different traditions, languages, and ways of life helps students develop respect, empathy, and an open mindset. For this reason, I enjoy creating learning experiences that encourage cooperation, curiosity, and mutual understanding.

In my teaching practice, I aim to create a positive and supportive learning environment where all students feel safe, motivated, and confident to express themselves. I see education not only as a way to develop academic skills, but also as an opportunity to foster personal growth, social skills, and global citizenship.

Allora, il lunedì mattina di solito ci svegliamo alle sette e alle otto inizia la lezione di Tecnologia. Alle nove abbiamo due ore di Italiano, ma tra queste due ore c’è una pausa di dieci minuti. In questo tempo possiamo mangiare uno spuntino o chiacchierare con i nostri amici. Dopo abbiamo un’ora di Matematica e un’ora di Scienze, e all’ultima ora facciamo Inglese. Alle due del pomeriggio usciamo da scuola, torniamo a casa e pranziamo. Questo è il nostro primo giorno della settimana scolastica. Gli altri giorni sono simili a questo: studiamo anche Geografia, Musica, Storia etc..., ma ci sono anche attività divertenti, come ad esempio Educazione Fisica o Arte.

Il mercoledì e il venerdì pranziamo a scuola perché abbiamo il rientro, quindi usciamo alle quattro del pomeriggio in quei due giorni. Suoniamo quattro strumenti musicali: ci sono la classe di pianoforte, quella di percussioni, di chitarra e di clarinetto.

Nel fine settimana non andiamo a scuola, possiamo rilassarci o dormire tanto, e il lunedì torniamo a scuola. Ci sono anche tante vacanze: le vacanze di Natale a Dicembre, quelle di Pasqua ad Aprile e le vacanze estive. Queste sono le preferite di tutti gli studenti perché durano tre mesi!

Olbia is a beautiful city in the north-east of Sardinia, Italy. It has about 60,000 people and is one of the most important towns on the island. The name Olbia means "happy" in ancient Greek!

Olbia is famous for its port and airport, which connect Sardinia to the rest of Italy and Europe. The city has a long history – it was founded by the Phoenicians and later became part of the Roman Empire. You can still see ancient ruins, like the Roman aqueduct and the Roman baths.

One of the most famous places in Olbia is the beautiful Basilica of San Simplicio, built in the 11th century. There is also Corso Umberto, the main street with many shops, cafes, and restaurants. Near Olbia, you can visit the stunning beaches of Costa Smeralda, with clear blue sea and white sand.

The people of Olbia love traditional Sardinian music, food, and festivals. One popular dish is zuppa gallurese, a tasty bread and cheese soup. In summer, there are many events and concerts in the city.

Olbia is a mix of history, culture, nature, and fun – a great place to visit or live. It's a city strongly focused on tourism, so the study of foreign languages is very important for our school. For this reason, students are encouraged to develop communication skills and an open mind towards different cultures.

Olbia è una bellissima città situata nel nord-est della Sardegna, in Italia. Ha circa 60.000 abitanti ed è una delle città più importanti dell’isola. Il nome Olbia significa “felice” in greco antico!

Olbia è famosa per il suo porto e per l’aeroporto, che collegano la Sardegna al resto d’Italia e d’Europa. La città ha una lunga storia: fu fondata dai Fenici e successivamente entrò a far parte dell’Impero Romano. Ancora oggi si possono vedere rovine antiche, come l’acquedotto romano e le terme romane.

Uno dei luoghi più famosi di Olbia è la bellissima Basilica di San Simplicio, costruita nell’XI secolo. C’è anche Corso Umberto, la via principale, con tanti negozi, caffè e ristoranti. Vicino a Olbia si possono visitare le meravigliose spiagge della Costa Smeralda, con mare azzurro e sabbia bianca.

Gli olbiesi amano la musica tradizionale sarda, il cibo e le feste popolari. Un piatto tipico è la zuppa gallurese, una gustosa zuppa di pane e formaggio. In estate, la città ospita molti eventi e concerti.

Olbia è un mix di storia, cultura, natura e divertimento: un posto perfetto da visitare o in cui vivere. È una città fortemente orientata al turismo, quindi lo studio delle lingue straniere è molto importante per la nostra scuola. Per questo motivo, gli studenti sono incoraggiati a sviluppare abilità comunicative e una mentalità aperta verso culture diverse.
