Mac Miller had many influential musicians during his rise in the industry. At the age of six he was already a self-taught musician who could play the piano, guitar, drums, and bass. When he turned fourteen he realized his passion for making music. In high school he finally started taking the steps into the industry and working hard towards his goals as a producer for songs he was proud to share with the world. He looked up to his more well-known peers such as The Beastie Boys, Lauryn Hill, and A Tribe Called Quest. He used their music to further his calling and used many samples from the following artists.

On January 19, 1992, Malcolm James McCormick was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. His mother Karen is a photographer and his father Mark is an architect and has an older brother named Miller. Mac ventured into music at an age much younger than most, learning Piano, Guitar, Bass, and Drums before being introduced to Hip Hop. He wanted to be a singer until he was 14. Mac Miller’s first rap name was “Easy Mac” and in 2007 his first rhymes and rap songs can be heard on his mixtape titled, But My Mackin’ Ain’t Easy. From that point on his talent only grew and his love for music along with it.

To me, this song means a lot, not only was it my introduction to his music but it was the beginning of a lyrical impact. Self Care is a very centering listen. You realize that there's beauty in both the big and small aspects of life. No matter what choices you decide to make you're allowed to change the future. Mistakes are not the end of the world.

Miller was born in Point Breeze, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. He was a very well-known figure in his town as a rap prodigy. His early music education was taught by his mother who had her own jazz club in the city. His eagerness to continue working towards his goals influenced the young minds of others in his community. He was very present in his neighborhood and is proud of where he came from.

Mac had his own sense of style, he wasn't influenced by others. Instead, others were influenced by him. He has a very flamboyant taste that stands out compared to other well known artists. Nowadays you can find many people dressing as he did. He experimented with colors, patterns, brands, but he didn't need to wear expensive pieces. During the beginning of his career he was influenced by the traditional hip-hop street wear. However, he began to make music he wanted to which ultimately changed the way he let others perceive him. He didn't want to be like the rest and finally found confidence to be himself.
