The kids love how to say good morning in different languages. They ask questions and are interested in where these places are. I have been very impressed with saying good morning to each other and wishing each other more. This sets the tone for me because they are showing such kindness to each other and that always makes me happy. I like how the video talked about changing the language we use. Something I will be conscious of.

My students love greeting each other in different ways. We have greeted each other in different languages, in squeaky voices, robot voices, and other silly voices. This past week the boys bowed to the girls and the girls did a curtsey to the boys and they loved that. They are always smiling and laughing while doing greetings like these and I think starting the day with smiles is a great thing.

My class this year likes the hand slap circle greeting and to say good morning in different types of voices. As Mr. Ford described, my class last year loved the Friday poem. I think I will go back to that same poem again. Morning Meeting is a great way to fill students in on any schedule changes for the day and gives the class a time to welcome each other and listen to each other's stories, which in turn shows togetherness and that we care for each other.

Morning meeting is something that my class is struggling with this year. There are several students who are having a difficult time with kindness and respecting peers. I found it interesting that the article mentioned gradually introducing aspects of the routine, which is what I've been doing. We're just now at the point where we can usually get through the greeting, and are starting to share.

I'm looking forward to the next series of Class Dojo videos — the theme is going to be Empathy. Also, I wanted to shout out Mr. Gamble, who has been helping me with what we are calling "Kindness Intervention."

I do not do a morning meeting but have seen through out the years what a great community building tool it is! My favorite greetings are the ones where students get to greet each other individually (whether it be walking around or in form of a cheer) . I knew a teacher that did a quick ten minute afternoon meeting at the end of the day to recap high points and areas to improve on for the next day (all said by the students), you could definitely tell the impact it had on her kids!

My students love the tunnel greeting (as demonstrated by Ujima during summer PD days) and giving each other high fives and hip bumps. Morning meeting is a crucial part of our day as it allows students to be leaders, with a different student leading morning meeting everyday, and it serves as an opportunity to set a culture of safety, love, care, and Kindness in the classroom. Every morning meeting begins with a the kind pledge as a reminder to choose kind when in situations that test our character.

Morning Meeting is the first time of the Day that the class will meet, share, and greet each other as a group. For some students, this time can either make or break their entire day. Teachers should be very observant of student behavior during this time. This will also let you know what type of mood your students are in to start the day. As one of the first staff members to greet students as they enter the building, I get to see some of their faces before you do and sometimes I'm certain you've been met at your door with a scowl or frown but also smiles of curiosity of what the day may bring. Once I've ended my duty with the drive-in lane, I go up and work with Mr. Fiore's class to assist in changing their mindset of appropriate morning and school day behaviors and to increase their integrity in the way they socialize with each other. Thanks for the shout out Brian!

Everyone in my room has a classroom job, and one of the jobs is Morning Messenger. I have released most of the morning meeting to the Morning Messenger. The M.M. is responsible for leading the morning message on the board and leading the greeting. We start right at 8:30 (because we have success first). One morning, the M.M. was late and the substitute did her job, the M.M. hasn't been late since. The students are very respectful. After the greeting, I have noticed that most of the students are happier and smiling, even if the were grumpy when they arrived. It is getting better and better. Eventually, they will learn more and more greetings so that the M.M. can choose the greeting.

A lot of days I place a quotation on a large paper and the students write their thoughts about it below the quotation. We then share the comments. Sometimes I leave the author's name off the paper and they guess who said it. I plan to use some of the students' own quotes as the year goes on. We also play a lot of games like quiet ball and "I have...Who has?"

I'm sure you can hear Keshawn giggling all the way in the war room. My character focus has been FUN and have already made some big decisions like what morning meeting will look like when it is student run and what kind of class pet we'll be getting. Morning meeting makes it so we all have a positive interaction to start our day. We always end up talking about something from ChannelOne news which gets the kids thinking outside their "box".
