         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the website below, I found all kinds of useful information about running records. The first question the website focuses on is asking the question: What are running records and what are their goal? The goal of a running record is to see if the student is using the strategies that you are teaching in your class and also to find out if the student is ready to advance to the next reading stage. The latter goal I knew before this because that is pretty much common sense, but I did not realize that the teacher was also checking for different strategies used in the classroom. I also learned that it depends on the students reading level and abilities how often a running record is ran on them. I thought the teacher randomly chose students to do them on in no apparent order. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Prezi link that I chose to use has a lot of useful information embedded in it. It includes the benefits of a running record, what a running record looks like, the different abbreviations to use during a running record, and more. This Prezi will be very helpful in my future when I have to perform them on students in my own classroom. The Prezi also includes a section to practice doing a running record with a partner before ever doing one on a student. I think that is important to do as well because it allows the teacher to practice before jumping right into it.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Personal Reflection</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>While I was in my Kindergarten practicum placement, I saw many running records conduced. Before then, though, I had never seen one take place. There were some students who needed serious help and other students who were very fluent and read smoothly, which is very typical, especially in a Kindergarten classroom. I could imagine that doing a running record in older grades would much more tricky and hard to keep up with since most of the students are reading faster and at much higher reading level. Even some of the Kindergarten students flew through the books and my teacher was barely keeping up with their reading! </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This video shows an example of a running record being done on a boy who is six years old and in Kindergarten. When the student correctly says the word, the teacher places a check mark above the word. When the student incorrectly says the word, the teacher writes what the student actually said along with a circled T above the actual word. I think this video is a good example of a running record. The teacher encourages the student without giving away the answers. </div>]]></description>
