Being a Kindergarten teacher was a likeable option given on my career assessment. Earlier in my life, I wouldn't have considered this career, but after having worked with children, both in my home and with Jordan School District, I think I would have enjoyed teaching.

The U.S. mean salary for this occupation is $55,460. Supporting programs at SLCC include English and Kindergarten/Preschool Education and Teaching.

Forty-three years after graduating from high school, I find myself in the college culture. Over those years since high school, a college degree kept calling me, and after many years, I answered.

Almost all of the students and professors I have encountered on SLCC's campuses have been kind and helpful to me. I've never felt judged as an older student, and I have appreciated the diversity at this school. It's been fun for me to be part of a college experience.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have been a faithful member of this religion my whole life. I am of pioneer heritage, and my ancestors sacrificed much for this religion. This religion defines who I am because I am taught that I am a daughter of God who is loved by and is special to Him. This gives me strength and hope when I am feeling helpless and alone. I have been taught to love, accept and forgive others, and to serve them. I also know I can be forgiven of my mistakes as I humbly try to better myself.

One thing that is special to me within this religion is meeting together with other members each Sunday in church. I feel a sense of belonging there, and being with others who believe as I do gives me strength. Each week, I partake of the Lord's sacrament and remember the sacrifice He made for me. Attending the temple is another special thing that I do. There, I am reminded of the covenants I first made with God to love, honor and serve Him. I feel peace in the temple unlike anywhere else! I am asked to sacrifice and do without some things in my religion that others may think foolish. However, I know those things bring me closer to God and they help me to have fortitude and strength of character.

I am a member of the aviation culture. I joined this culture when I married my husband, who is an aviation enthusiast. He knows all things aviation-related and can always tell us the name of the airplane that is flying overhead.

As part of the aviation culture, I have assisted and joined my husband in group and family flying trips, socials, airport events, introducing young people to aviation through free flights, attending airshows, and just going up for a flight around the Salt Lake valley.

One trip that was especially eventful was when all except one member of our family flew to Rexburg, Idaho to view the total eclipse of the sun in 2017. The eclipse was one the most fascinating things I have ever seen! Having an airplane has its advantages--we flew in an out of the Rexburg airport and avoided the heavy traffic on the roads.
