Martin Luther Kings work has encouraged the world to have a more open minded view. There are many examples of this but the one most people know about is how he spoke and expressed his opinions and views without using violence. He risked many things when going to jail as it changed how others viewed him. As King got more well known especially after getting out of jail many others stood up and started to follow him and his beliefs. By expressing his beliefs to the rest of America he was able to change the view that the nation. Because of Martin Luther King Jr today everyone lives in a mixed society rather than a separated one.

Martin Luther King Jr (Born Michael King, January 15 1929-April 4 1968) was an extremely important person in the Civil Rights Movement. He was the second of three children and named Michael after his father, though both changed their names to Martin while MLK Jr was still young. Both King Jr and his siblings were born into a financially secure middle class family and received a better education compared to most of the same race. King and all of his siblings took piano lessons from their mother and they all also played a variety of sports such as baseball and football. King also delivered the newspaper in his neighbourhood in his teens.

During the 1950s and 1960s Martin Luther King Jr played a part in civil rights movements. Because of his determination to end racism and for equal rights for other races he gained respect from many people including ones of his own race, ones of other races and political leaders. The world view that Martin Luther King Jr had to fight was the one that black people were less than white people. He challenged the 'minority' label he was stuck with by going against the rules to try to get equal rights for his people. It was a huge risk for him to do so. After King many other minorities started protesting for equals rights as well.

He didn’t give up when he was fighting for what was right even after coming out of jail he still projected his thoughts and beliefs to his country. I would like to have the courage that King did as he didn’t stop until he was murdered. He fought for what was right and impacted so many people. I know that if I was in a situation I would not have the courage to continue to fight for what was right after going to jail and continually being shut down for speaking up for what is right.

King was a smart child and started realise that people were being treated differently because of their skin colour. King knew this wasn't right and when he went out with his family he could see the racism happening first hand. King and his father once went into a shoe store and the clerk working told them to go to the back of the store as "They do not serve coloured people in the front of the store". King started school at 6 years old and continued until the school unallowed him to continue his education.
