I thought that it was interesting that Cherie Dimaline dropped out of high school in grade eleven. It makes me question how essential high school is, or if what is being taught is. It also makes me wonder if she was ahead in all her classes or when it came to writing she just had a great voice.

I thought it was interesting that she didn't attend university, dropping out of school in grade 11. This is interesting because she wanted to be a full time author and has still managed to become a very successful and respected author winning awards.

When reading through the questions asked to Cherie Dimaline, I was particularly interested in what her favourite and less favourite subjects were. It was no surprise to me that English was her favourite, as it is with most writers. The most interesting part was history being her least favourite. In her explanation, it makes sense, she has an entirely different view on how Canada was created. Which most history courses don't offer. That is why I feel that it is so important to have courses, like this English one, specifically focused on Indigenous history and culture.

Something that I found interesting about Cherie Dimaline was the subjects that she liked. It didn't surprise me that English was her favourite, seeing as she's an author. What did surprise me was that History was her least favourite. I assumed that since she incorperated Indigenous history in her work, she would like it. However, once she gave the reasoning to why she didn't like it, it made sense. Her beliefs and knowledge of history would be different than what they taught, which is why I think it's important that we have courses like this one, teaching specifically about Indigenous culture and tradition.

A main point that interested me is the amount that Cherie Dimaline and her family have moved around throughout her childhood. Cherie Dimaline dropped out of high school in grade 11 and before that she moved to 10 different schools all around Ontario. This probably puts a lot of pressure on a person as without receiving a high school diploma, it can make it extremely difficult for a person to pursue what they truly want in life. Education has become a huge factor in any decision regarding employment, housing and other aspects in life. Seeing what she has been able to accomplish and knowing a Metis woman was able to do it herself is very impressive and inspiring.

The thing I found the most interesting was that even though she is a famous writer, she struggles with public speaking and communication. She stated that she suffers from anxiety and it takes her a long time to prepare for any speaking engagement. I know that as an author, you usually have to travel around doing book talks to large audiences. I can only imagine how hard this must be for her, and I wonder exactly what she does to prepare for any public speaking event.

The few things I found interesting was that she also found that in high school she was very bored. It was confusing, and she got very frustrated. I also like how she said that in her school experience, one thing that prepared her for life was friendship and loyalty, because those are some things that I value in my own life. and I also agree with her when she said that a life lesson that she learned at school was research because in any subject I feel that it’s important to do your research on something before you do anything on it like, for example, a project or an essay.

Something that stood out to me was how Cherie Dimaline felt her history class was a hostile and humiliating environment due to her Indigenous culture and her different understanding of Canada's history. I wonder if this contributed to her dropping out and how many other students are affected by lack of representation in the classroom.

A couple things that interested me was the difficulty Cherie Dimaline had learning Canadian history in school because of her background. You'd think it would be easy because everyone learns at the same time, but having different tales and ideas of events makes sense as to why it would be hard. Something that stood out to me the most was that she won a catholic debate against a priest. To have the knowledge of the nature and nudity art that she did too over power a priest is impressive. Lastly, I really liked that she claimed that she'd enjoy school in the future when she was able to learn more about native heritage is philosophy. I can understand how it would be nicer to learn about your true heritage and its roots with proper knowledge. The information in the character sketch was all eye catching, but these three points stood out to me the most.

I thought that it was quite interesting that Cherie Dimaline actually dropped out of school in grade 11 and was still able to go on and win various awards for her work without finishing highschool. I also thought it was quite interesting to learn that such a great writer struggled with public speaking and her communication skills because in her novel from what I can tell she does a great job at conveying what she has to say. You would also assume that when you are an author you spend a lot of time interacting with your fans in one way or another so it really was surprising to hear that.

Something I found interesting was that the natural gift she wished she had, had was public speaking. I found this interesting because I also struggle with public speaking and when it said it took her a week to be able to say a speech and days to get over it after I related to it. I get very anxious before presentations and speaking in front of my peers. This helps me because someone who has had a successful life also gets anxious before public speaking it gives me a sense that even famous people have anxiety.

One thing that intrigued me was when Cherie Demaline said that her fondest moment was in Catholic school when she won a debate against a priest. The shock doesn't come from the fact that she was triumphant, but the fact that she went to Catholic school. Considering the history Indigenous peoples have had with the Catholic church, I am surpised to see that she attended a Catholic school. Though now, it seems to have helped her writing, in terms of capturing the essence of both perspectives in her writng.

I found interesting when Cherie Demaline said "I did very well in school but once I fell in love with books, everything else was pushed aside". To others it may not seem interesting, but I think it stood out. When I think of books, I think of how much I hated reading books when I first discovered them. I never really liked reading books, although I like english. Sherie mentioned that english has always been her favourite subject and that she really likes reading books. I feel that it makes sense to think of it that way, but I found it interesting because it is contradictory to my thoughts on reading. It is rare that I find a book that I enjoy. I have tried reading multiple genres and still have a hard time finding books I like. I think in some way, I want to be more like her in the way that I want to be able to enjoy books the way she says she enjoys them. Overall her love for books interested me. That is why I believe it stood out to me significantly, although there were other other important things mentioned by her in her interview.
