Andy Warhol grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was a son of a construction worker. At the age of 8, he had a liver disease which sometimes caused his muscles to spasm uncontrollably, while Warhol recovered from this, he was taught to draw by his mother (an embroiderer and an artist).
When Andy was age 14, his dad died of liver disease, his dad saved up money from him to go college due to him thinking he was the brightest of his children. He studied at Carnegie Mellon University, where he took art. He became a very successful commercial artist in New York in 1959. In 1961, he came to think of the repetition of commercial images which he called pop art. He often used Silkscreen and lithography to create his pictures.
