I am enjoying the book, the descriptions she uses had me on the first page, I loved them so much I made Montana read it.

Michelle

I just started the book and I loved the first few chapters - so clear and clever and wry. I love the pictures Michelle posted above - they match well.

Ali

Just finished. I loved this book. Really looking forward to reading the second and third. I found it very compelling and believable. I found myself thinking about it a lot during the day and reflecting on the damge we have done and are doing to this beautiful world. She is a great writer - excellent figurative language - both poetic and beautifyl and othertimes funny, silly that also makes the point. A great book - so glad you suggested it Carolyn. I have been aware of the book for sometime and wasn't sure it would be my thing so was pleasantly surprised. I also read a number of reviews while I was waiting to get a copy and the critical consensus seemed to be that it was too obvious and not well structured - I don't agree with that. See you soon
Ali :)

I really like the idea about Lord Lucan, the setting on Mount Wellington behind Tasmania, the character and it's easy to read (and quick) but I don't LOVE it. It is interesting how much difference a great writer with lots of experience like Margaret Atwood makes.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/lord-lucan-sons-fears-over-2275562

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bingham,_7th_Earl_of_Lucan

Ali
I finished the book first thing Friday morning. It ends beautifully. I found the first half a bit obvious and flat but the last third is really special -maginative and very moving with some lyrical magical realism to finish. I am very glad I read it.
Ali

True stories always make for an interesting read, thanks for those posts Ali. The book has kept me interested, makes you question how many stories can come from one murder!! Michelle
