A genre in film and tv is what someone would describe it as for example the avengers would be in the genre of action and Dr Who would be in the genre of SiFi(Science Fiction). Films and TV shows usually don't have just one genre but multiple, an example for TV would be Once upon a time with it being in the Drama, Mystery, Fantasy and Action Fiction genres. An example for films would be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 because it's in the Action Film, Fantasy, Adventure Film, Comedy, Science fiction film and the Superhero movie

What genre conventions have been used in the Film/ TV Show you have decided to study?

The film that I have decided to study is Deadpool. The theme of this film is about a man who finds out he is dying and wants to live so he can be with the woman he loves. What actually happens is that when he finds a treatment to cure him of his disease it goes wrong and he becomes physically disfigured but at the same time he cannot die and so he goes on a killing spree to seek revenge.

The iconography is somewhat unclear in the film as there does not seem to be symbols or visual aids for you to follow the story. The writers and directors want the film is as close to the comics as possible, and if you know anything about dead pool then you know that the mere with a mouth does not do subtle and symbolic, all that often but when he does its for really serious situations like suicide.

The main characters are Deadpool, Colossus, Negasonic teenage warhead, Ajax/Francis, his girlfriend; Vanessa, Angel Dust. In total there are 23 characters and this is inclusive of the main characters ad side characters.

It is set in Vancouver and the main scene settings are in a bar, his and his girlfriends apartment, in a taxi, recruitment centre, Blind Al's and other scene settings are on a bridge and at a scrapyard.

The trailer does draws people to it by having it be both enjoyable to the movie going audience by having it be full of action and comedy, and for the fans of the comic because instead of it being like the last time Deadpool what in a movie they actually got him right with all of his ability and personality which is shown throughout the entire trailer.

Like what l said about the iconography dead pool doesn't have a lot of mine-en-scene, or at lest not that l can see. However l was able to see a classic colour used in films (especially action films), which would be that the bad guys all wear black clothes which symbolises power, elegance, formality, death, evil, mystery and fear which is something that you would expect in bad guys.

The trailer uses white flashes to edit from the footage to the ident and then back to the footage. It does this to show as much of the trailer as posable.
It also uses fading when Deadpool finds out about his cancer, by fading from the x-ray to his face and then fades to black then fades to him and his fiancé. It does this to symbolise how devastating and deadly it is.

The type of music would be a song called "X gona give it to ya" by DMX and the sounds used are gun shots, sword swings and other fighting sounds. These are used to put enthuses on how care free and silly the character of dead pool actually is. Though it does use more somber music and disturbing sounds for when it needs to be serous. It's used to show that even though Deadpool is very funny and silly he's also very serous and deadly when need be.

It also works when they don't use lighting of example when they were on a highway it actually looks like that they are on a highway in Vancouver because they didn't use excess light.

The company used him because he already played the character before even if it was stupid and another reason is that he was born where the film takes place which is Vancouver Canada. As far as l can tell he's the only star that they have.

Marvel

Marvel was founded in 1 May 1939, New York City, New York, United States by Martin Goodman who was an American publisher of pulp magazines, paperback books, men's adventure magazines, and comic books, launching the company that would become Marvel Comics. Marvel was also a fairly big part in the destruction of the silver age (or the age of innocence some people call it). This was brought about because of a comic book administration had forced comics to be more kid friendly which meant that they couldn't show blood, murder, drugs ets
ets. That was until a guy that worked for DC met up with a friend that works for Marvel after seeing a spiderman comic with an African American man on drugs and about to fall of of a roof, thankfully spiderman saved him. Marvel guy did this by him just didn't asking the administration to over look it so the striker that's supported to be on the comics was missing, the DC guy asked if any thing happen and as it turned out no one cared at all and because of that both Marvel and DC where able to publish any thing they wanted and because of this the silver age anded and the bronze/modern ages began

Marvel is funded by the sales of their comics, movies, TV series and toys. They are also work with Disney, which is worth over $92 billion. The actual net worth of Marvel is $4 billion (which is only $1 billion bellow the actual founder of Disney him self.)

Marvel is run by the conglomerate Disney along with lucasarts films (the company that made the star wars and Indiana Jones films) so that it would be easier to make the movies and games. Unfortunately because they work under Disney a lot of the money that is made by these wound go straight to Disney (though I would imagine that they do make the majority profit off of there shows on Netflix).

The closest thing that Marvel has to a competitor would be DC comics, because they are a few years older then Marvel on the comic book side but five years and 41 days behind on their movies, (and this is not taking consideration in the fact that the first "good" one wound of been suicide squad which was 3 years and 41 days after man of steel). In my personal opinion is that DC might have an advantage in when it comes to comics bit Marvel defiantly has it beat when it comes to there movies. In fact I'ed say that the only thing that DC movies have over the Marvel ones is that they made a film about a woman before Marvel could. DC comics were first published as action comics but the name was changed a few years later to DC comics because they wanted the promote the first ever publication of the dark night (batman) who is famous for being the worlds greatest detective.

The poster shows that the character Deadpool is a very comedic person so people that like comedy would like the film. This is shown with the way that he's standing and the words on the side of him. They did this for two reasons, the first is to show the casual movie going audience what their in for, and the second reason is that it would make people that are already fans of the character that they won't have another screwup like in Origins of Wolverine (if you don't know what I'm talking about look it up). The text also shows that it's not for older people because the words are mostly used by people that are of the younger side this is because they use the words "BAD ASS SMART ASS GREAT ASS" these are things that the majority of old people would not use and the fact that it's an R rating (an 15 for us), so if your under age than you won't get to see it unless you either look older then you are or wait for the DVD (or download it). The fact that it uses the marvel logo also helps with the determining of demographics by making it for fans of marvel.

This isn't the only form of cross media because theirs a Deadpool game, figurines and an animated tv which is set to start next year.

Script development is when the original script is read and is decided what is keep and what to get rid of. It then does this again and again until the script is finalised. It can ever look similar to or completely different from the original script.

Storyboarding is when they draw specific sense in the movie to show how it should look. This is important because if they didn't do this then the actors and stunt men wouldn't be able to know how it should look like.

The crew are recruited though audition sites and the best of them are recruited like a normal job interview. The actors audition for their roles by ether saying a specific line from the movie or talking how the character would talk.

The real world locations that the film use are a highway, the streets of Vancouver, a scrap yarded and more. They use these so they don't have to wast time making them all. The sets that they use are Deadpool's apartment, the bar and many others. They make them because it's easier then looking for things real places that look like what they want.

Post production is when people edit thing in or out of the movie such as sound, explosions or sometimes entire characters (an example in the movie would be Colossus).

Spacial effects are used in the movie when theres explosions, like from Negasonic teenage warhead, or the entirety of Colossus. I'm not certain on hoe they got the effect for Negasonic but I do know how Colossus was done. To do him they got a person that was bigger then the other actors, in this case Stefan Kapicic, and had him were a grey suit so that they could track his movements and then put the metal look of Colossus over him.
