We feel they are challenging and well organised, with the option of extending the activity easily without too much research required. Jumping from one set of learning to the next, trying to work in between as well as daily life at home. Trying not to make comparisons and being able to draw the line under schoolwork, regardless if it’s finished or not and remain positive. We would love to see more live maths lessons available but I think we need to be realistic with our expectations of school. If we are finding our own jobs and lives tough to fit in between home learning, then so are teachers. We are sure extra lessons would be available, if practical. One teacher is teaching all subjects. Possibly prioritise tasks as something like a traffic light system so we know when the absolute basics have been achieved then everything else we can add to that is a win. Nothing fancy. Just a task title, date of presentation to go to get links etc from and box to tick off. Prioritising is very difficult and we often go towards the quick wins that we find easier rather than spending a small amount of quality time trying a concept, being challenged by it and sometimes failing; therefore learning from it. Then the quick wins are the more enjoyable tasks children can often be left to do those. Have a list of educational  apps to hand in a box on the iPad, a little craft box and paper hand, a pre measured baking session handy or something that moves you away from the crisis point where the tears will come. When children touch and feel life, they are learning.  Homeschool, no matter what the age, was never something we had planned. It’s brutal. Take a step back and realise you’re doing a really good job.....of being their parent. And if you haven’t done homeschool this week, the house is a tip and endless calls have been interrupted be selfish with your self care. Children are amazing at being resourceful. Present them with your challenges and ask for their help. Then when it’s their turn to get help they are more resilient to give a go first. 

- if maths isn’t working on a boring worksheet, take it outside or make it real life. 

- leave out “workstations” where children can explore independently; a nature table in the garden from your walks, stone decorating, Lego box in a quite corner, den making things, craft box....and leave them to it. Send them back to find something to do, put your headphones in and take 5. 

- build a reading nook den and fill it with favourite books

- take turns in choosing the board game of the day
