References are often excellent tools for authors to convey lessons and morals to a large audience without sounding too forceful.

A Socratic Seminar is an academic discussion where participants share opinions and viewpoints on a specific subject with others. Seats are arranged in a circle with coaches sitting behind the debaters. Halfway through the event, coaches swap with the participants. Two of the topics we discussed this year were discrimination and the impact of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. It was exciting to see an active debate progress without the hindrance of needing to raise hands.
