People around the U.S. are denying the benefits gmo's. Many have been spreading misinformation declaring that gmo's are dangerous for the human body but that is absolutely not the case. In fact the University of Maryland Medical Center has stated that "The World Health Organization, the National Academy of Science and several other major science organizations across the globe have reviewed research on gmo's and found no evidence that they are harmful" ("Genetically Engineered Foods" 2). Not only are they safe but we can improve foods by making them healthier, stronger and tastier. If we make them more nutritious people poverty can have more with less which will make less likely to be get malnutrition. One issue that has sparked quite a bit of controversy is this agriculture company called Monsanto along with their right to patent the seeds they genetically modified. Many farmers have bought seeds from companies like Monsanto but the seeds that come from the farmers harvest Monsanto owns. Due to patents for genetically modified organisms farmers aren't allowed to use the seeds from their harvest if the seeds are legally protected. Many farmers have trouble with this since this isn't the way farming has been done since farmers would typically save the seeds from their harvest and use them in the years to come. They say the patents are unjust but The Genetic Literacy Project states that "For 85 years, the same patent protection that covers all other inventions, from new processes to new machines, has applied to seeds, plants and other agricultural products. It has been the beating heart of innovation" (Andrew Porterfield 1). With these protections companies like Monsanto will be able to cover research costs for engineering this genetically modified organism, fund their next project and profit.

People have developed ignorance of what exactly is in the food they are eating. Ignorance really relates to the food industry because over the years our food production has changed drastically. 200 years ago, 90% of the people lived on farms and would produced their own food. Today there is only 2% of the population to produced food for the world to consume. In the article “How We Lost Knowledge of Where Food Comes From and Why We Need to Get it Back”, claims that people nowadays don't know what is in their food. The author also says, “two hundred years ago, most Americans knew a lot more about what they ate because most had an actual hand in growing a sizable share of their food.” (pg.2 para.8) This shows that people grew not to really care to know what exactly they are eating or to do some research. Also, people back then knew if the meat had any antibiotics in them, they knew a lot more about their food than the people today do. In another article that I read called “Food Ignorance is Not Healthy Bliss”, explains that there's some documentaries that highlight the horrors of ass meat production and people aren't really disgust about it. “...Chick-fil-a, which announced it would phase out the use of antibiotics treated chickens within the next 5 years. The problem with tr antibiotics in our food is it leads to more antibiotics -resistant bacteria in animals. These bacteria then infects the people who eat them.” (pg.2 para.7) Almost all antibiotics in animal agriculture are similar to human antibiotics. That is why people prefer to buy drug-free meat because the residue these antibiotics leave in the meat isn't healthy. Resistant bacteria can be passed by food-producing animals to humans.

The word segregation means to set someone or something apart from one-another. This relates to the restaurant industry because many people are set apart from healthy foods just because of there stage class their in. Many high poverty neighborhoods have fast food restaurants in high poverty neighborhoods because of segregation. One of the sources says " Segregation is just people of different races living in different communities. The issue with segregation is that it often causes inequality."(Brittany Betha) What this means is that many things that are decided by the government and there decisions. Many high poverty neighborhoods have more restaurants than hospitals and doctors. For example " High-poverty neighborhoods have fewer public service and are more likely to have fast-food chains, liquor stores and convenience stores, opposed to healthy food grocers.(Brittany Betha). Most of the restaurants are not placed in richer ares. They mostly have grocery stores with fresh foods. There is also a lot of discrimination in the restaurant industry for example " White workers serving and bar tending; workers of color cleaning tables, preparing food, and washing dishes."(ROC united) many of the workers get payed less then other workers."in 2010, the median hourly wage for restaurant workers nationwide was $8.90 for a family of three. The three lowest-paid occupations in america in 2009 were to be found in the restaurant industry."(ROC united). It should not be accepted the way it is we should all be equal and have the same rights to food as anyone else. We should all have the chance to have nice and healthy grown foods.

Social Media has taken a big step as was as the Food industries itself. The Food industries are using social media to have a complete working industry and gain trust as one. Sal Georgiou says, " It can clearly shows that you are a professional and have a certain level of authority as you know what to talk about and displays you are open for business"(Georgiou). Food industries use all platforms to be supporting there industries itself, but not only them consumers also support the Food industries as well. Industries invest so much time to spread the awareness to being there business and have support. They also make a community to begin having constant conversations about them. Big Food industries are always on the community to be able to reach there loyal fans and be as much honest as they can to earn there trust. John Dubois states, " One effective tactics companies in the food and beverage industries can do to grow their base is by building a community to loyal fans"(Dubois). They gain the trust from the fans to be providing some but not all information the fans ask for in return. Social Media is a big place so if one piece of information that is good or bad is to be found, it can spread very quickly and possibly keep an eye on the food industries. They also have policies to keep the brand on-going and to be the one needed also trusted. Social Media is a big place, known platforms is the best place to use time for spreading good awareness to the consumers.

Did you know that you had food rights? Yes! You have the right to know where your food comes from, what's in your food and who's handling your food. But these rights aren't followed because the food industry is full of deep dark secrets. Over the years processed junk food start to rise and it was sold everywhere and for cheap. " cheap, nutrient-poor foods that force poor people to choose between economic viability and nutrition, effectively violating their right to adequate food.”( Organic Authority Jill Hettinger ) The foods maybe good for everyone wallets but not good for our health. These types of foods causes nutrient deficiencies, these deficiencies are most likely to happen more to people eating the junk food than the people with no food. "There are more than two billion people suffering from micro-nutrient deficiencies around the world, with about 600 million of those clinically obese people, compared with 800 million people battling a chronic lack of food."(Organic Authority Jill Hettinger) Remember I said you should have right to know who's handling your food? Well the people handling your food struggle everyday. The people say there jobs are dangerous. "Meatpacking is the most dangerous factory job in America".(Abuses Against Workers Taint U.S. Meat And Poultry) These workers go through the danger of losing limbs their lives. Even when injured on the job they never get any in return. The nutritional facts label tells you whats in the food your eating. It helps you determine if you have a healthy diet. A nutrition fact label is a panel found on a package of food which contains a variety of information about the nutritional value of the item but do consumers really understand the meaning of these labels? "A new report indicated that only 57% of consumers in North America show confidence in understanding nutritional labeling." (Nielsen Holdings) This is an american problem because we as consumers do not fully know all the factors involved. "Across ten nutritional content categories studied two-thirds of respondents indicate they believe the nutritional claims are either never or only sometimes trustworthy." (Nielsen Holdings) As a consumer it is important to understand the nutritional label in food products. Information about the amount per serving of nutrients such as saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, sugar, and fiber these are very important for people with different health concerns. "Many state and municipal goverments, including New York City, have passed laws that require chain resturants to provide calorie content and other nutritional information at the point of sale." (USDA ERS) Good nutrition is the key to not only having a good physical health but mental health as well the kind and amount of food you consume affects the way you feel and the way your body works. The nutrition facts in the food products is a helpful tool if you want to live a healthy life. Its a good idea to read them because it can eiether help or effect your body. For these reason it is very important to understand the meaning of the nutritional labeling on the package of food you are consuming.

Eating and producing meat has become a major issue in America a we need to overcome this issue. Kristen Lederer states, "...diet rich in animal products can be as determinal to one's health as smoking cigarettes"( The Hidden Costs of Hamburgers). Meat products have lots amount of cholesterol, saturated fat, refined carbohydrates, protein, and L-Caritine. L-Caritine is transformed into N-Oxide (TMAO). TMAO is a build up in the arteries. The TMAO then hardens while limiting the flow of oxygen-rich blood, leading to a heart attack. In the article The Hidden Cost of Hamburgers it states the following, "In total, 6.5 pounds of greenhouse gases are released to produce one quarter-pounder burger" (PBS News Hour) The greenhouse gases released is what causes global warming. A cow produces greenhouse gas through there breath and poop. This poop the goes into rivers and oceans and it produces algae blooms. Where algae blooms nothing will be able to survive. Cutting out meat and adopting a vegan lifestyle can be a way to help one and the environment. Lets suppose one still wants to eat meat there are easily adoptable ways one can help one and the environment. One can adopt Meatless Mondays and/ or Weekday Vegetarian. If every person does this everyone can help save the environment and the health of one.

Have young people became slaves to energy drinks. Energy drinks are beverages that contain lots of caffeine, taurine, sugars, ginseng, b vitamins and more; these beverages provide mental and physical stimulation. You can have the energy drinks in many different sizes and kinds. For example, like Red Bull, Monster, Rock star and nose which are all unhealthy drinks for you. In the article of “ What that energy can do to your body” it says that: “ Energy drinks not only have been shown to raise stress levels, increases heart rate, increase blood pressure, they’ve also been shown to make the blood a little bit thicker”( Howard ) Basically, energy drinks have a really bad and death leading drink that have really bad side effects. This article of ( Energy Drinks ) has talked about how college students and teenagers mix alcohol and energy drinks together; “ a growing trend among young adults and teens is mixing energy drinks with alcohol.”in my opinion, this article is leading to a warning to notify teens and college students of the danger in energy drinks, by telling them that you are taking your own life with your hands.

Fast food is taking over. home cooking is slowly diminishing. why is home cooking slowly dying off and why is fast food becoming more of a popular thing? Patrick Butler a social policy editor stated "particularly those who are short of money, time or both, are spending a bigger share of their food budgets on unhealthy frozen and chilled products." (Home cooking in decline...). This shows how us consumers that don't have the time or money will usually buy fast food meals since its cheaper and easier to make. "And restrictions on the ability of retailers to offer cheap "buy one get one free" promotions on food that is high in fat, sugar or salt." (Home cooking in decline...). Consumers with low income tend to buy fast food products because of their price. "High income households spent 50 percent of their food budget on restaurants." (David Tamarikin). Not only consumers with low income households buy fast food products so do the wealthy. I think home cooking is just time consuming when you can just go to a fast food place and order your food and get out of there." There was more home cooking in the 1950s and 1960s because woman were much less likely to work outside of the home." (David Tamarikan). With woman now working more they don't have the time to cook at home and going for fast food products is the way to go. In conclusion I think home cooking is dying because we consumers sometimes don't have the money to buy home cooking products or have the time to spend time making a home cooked meal. Fast food is cheaper and faster which is why home cooked meals are diminishing.

+++ if people don't receive the same equal rights in the political industries, what makes you think they receive the same equal rights in the food industries? the food industrie relates to the political areas because people don't have equal rights just like don't have it in the food area. lower income (poor) neighborhoods don't have easy access to healthy organic foods in there grocey stores. higher paid neiborhoods (rich) have a large selection of prouduce to choose from in there gorcery stores. ''people who live in poorer neiborhods in the U.S are less likley to have easy acess to supermarkets carrying wide varitey of fresh produce and other healthy foods" (Reuters) they have to travel miles and miles just to get a wide varority of organic healthy foods. insted they are surround by unhealty places. they are on every corner, as well as liquor stores."we reviewed the lierature on neighborhoods disparities in access to fast-food outlets and covient storeses low income neighborhoods offered greater acess to food sources that promote unhealthy eating'' (Hilmeres)+++ so relize people who live in poor neighborhoods dont recive the same equal rights in the food industries theres just not enough prouduce for them to choose from so they are forset to buy unhealthy food because thats all they are surrounded by.

Americans today are so wrapped up around the taste of what they call Fast Food. Even organic food. Even though there is a difference between these foods, all ingredients come from the same place, farms. Farmers have been putting Monsanto's product Roundup in our food crops. Roundup is a product created to kill weeds. "Each year, non-organic farmers dump millions of Roundup on food crops. The United States Geological Survey scientists reveal exposure to Roundup could potentially alter your hormones, leading to obesity, heart problems, and diabetes." (Zerbe, Leah). Consuming the pesticides in Roundup can cause serious damage to the body and can potentially cause death. Monsanto is an agricultural company, helping farmers large and small grow food more sustainably. Although they "help" farmers do their job, they are not helping Americans consume healthy foods, yet they also fall into those Americans consuming the food. "Internal Monsanto documents obtained by plaintiffs' attorneys in those cases indicate that Monsanto may have manipulated research regulators relied on to garner favorable safety assessments." (Gillam, Carey). Monsanto is a not so great company who knows what they are doing to our food. So be aware of what you eat and stay safe.

If he would of had knowledge on the proper processing, it would not have mad any difference of the long term effects of it. Corn is an inexpensive product. Justice for chicken farmers is soemthing that can easily be overlooked. but these people grow the chicken we put in our mouths so we have to care about them. through contract chicken farming big chicken corporations gain control over smaller farms that raise and feed their chickens. this allows the bigger chicken company to reduce  or increase pay for certain farms and and intimidate these farmers because they are their main source of income. " An ugly reality in poultry is that growers are often intimidated by company personnel ". (staff,Rafi) Contract chicken farmers face many injustices through taxes, and upgrades that put these farmers in years of debt. big chicken companies use intimidation tactics to get what they want out of their contract chicken farmers. if they need a large order of chickens their going to get what they want because they know their the only hope for these farmers. but lets say you dont make these upgrades Kay Doby says " the threat is put before you if you do not do the upgrades they will not bring you anymore chicken to grow". (staff,rafi) "ninety seven percent of the chicken we eat is produced by a farmer under contract with a big chicken company". (Lee,Rafi.org). so as we can see it is working and these farmers are being intimidated and this must  be brought to an end.
