In order to correctly perform the movements required during a dance class, regardless of the technique and style being studied, it is necessary to have a good knowledge of the mechanisms that regulate the movements of the human body and, even more, good control of it: only through the so-called "consciousness of movement" in fact, a simple sequence of movements can be transformed into "gestures" capable of transmitting to the viewer not only elegance and beauty but also feelings and emotions. During contemporary dance classes, I paid particular attention to the sensations that my body perceived and, above all, began to consider where a movement could originate within my body and how far it could evolve. I noticed that Release classes, for example, are based on a style of movement that is fluid and natural but also extremely energetic, in which the body is prepared to go along with any movement that is soft and relaxed, or snappy and fast. The focus is on release, breathing, and muscular relaxation, and I have thus been able to learn to control the origin of movement, and I have also noticed that by reflecting on where the energy and intention starts, you get a better quality of body expression and a conscious projection of the body in space.

By studying, and approaching lessons with greater awareness, my concept of movement has evolved. Often, we tend to reproduce or copy what our eyes observe, such as our teachers or classmates, but by shifting our attention to the concept of feeling before giving a form, I have noticed that we can give a more intense sensitivity to the gesture and movement that we are performing. For example, during floor work classes we try to perceive the sensations that arise inside our body when we come into contact with the floor as we change the body's relationship with gravity, and this concept helps us to improve and make better use of the center of the body. For this reason, during fast movements and sudden changes of weight on the floor, I felt more the support it can give us and how important it is to perceive the core as the starting point of a movement. Feeling the core and using the energy it gives us to color a movement is one of the most intense and conscious sensations that dance offers us.

During this online period, I have learned that there is another way to become aware of our body and develop more and more complex and articulated movements. With Jason's classes, we worked on the isolation of body parts. This way of moving makes it possible to feel each limb in a unique and concentrated way. I was able to develop infinite movements with different energies even with just one arm, or one hand. This technique has allowed me to increase my body sensations and thus develop my perception of myself, my body, and my small space. I had never focused so deeply, in fact, I challenged myself to be able to achieve certain movements that seem apparently simple but then turned out to be complicated with the addition of the speed of the music.

For this reflection I wanted to focus fully on the sensations that dance conveys to me on a daily basis. The sensations I am referring to are both bodily and mental. More specifically, I would like to focus on the awareness that a dancer must have when creating and dancing.
A dancer must not only have the ability to move according to certain canons, but must also be able to feel their body and be aware of what they feel internally.

I wanted to research the history of contemporary dance to try to understand how it was conceived from its inception. An important American dancer made history and her surname became the name of a contemporary dance technique: Martha Graham. Her vision is very much associated with what I wanted to focus on for this reflection, the connection between movements and emotions. What makes us special, what makes the difference in the way we dance is precisely our 'inner landscape'. According to other research, dance has always been a ritual to make people feel good, in fact, dance was for everyone, not only for the best, everyone should be able to express themselves.

I decided to make an editing video in which I tried to combine different techniques phrases. The movements I decided to use are very simple because my intention was to try to experiment with combining different techniques. I combined floor work, release and a few isolations.
