This is a form of fine art printmaking where the printing plate is cut into lino. The lino is then inked, a piece of paper is then placed over it and then you have to roll over it with a lino roll and apply pressure by hand to transfer the ink to the paper.

We got the plastic needles, we thought of the animals we were going to make the service users could pick, we got all the different colour felt material for the different animals and lastly the thread. Ciara in our group also thought about doing up a leaflet on each animal and what emotion the animal related too.
The animals we decided on were; a Monkey which was to symbolise happiness or being excited. The Lion was to symbolise anger. The Seal was to symbolise sadness. The Lama was to symbolise being stressed or busy and lastly the Unicorn was to symbolise being lonely. We had four stations these were; a template station where you picked out the templates of the animal you choose and pick the material that we pre holed. When preparing the material you should consider point size, typeface, paper type, colour and weight. The sewing station where you then start to sew your stuffed animal. The stuffing and scent station where you then start stuffing your stuffed animal and put a scent on it so it can smell nice. the scents we had were lavender, cinnamon and lemongrass. after the stuffing station was the decorating station, this was where you could put any final touches you wanted on to your stuffed animal. We Found this activity very therapeutic and relaxing. We then started thinking more into this activity and other ideas of doing it for our Facilitation. As we spent more time in class sewing we came across minor barriers that we might have to change for the facilitation. One of these barriers was the needles, as using proper steel needles could be unsafe for the service users in our facilitation. The service users from St. Hilda's really enjoyed the idea of 'Build-a-Buddy' workshop. Although they found parts of it was difficult they still never gave up and were still interested to keep going. I also found that more time should be allocated to that particular activity also. When the service users from St. Hilda's were finished making their 'Build-a-Buddy' animals we then gave them a pamphlet for their stuffed animal, where they could write the details of their 'Build-a-Buddy' for example; their name, where they were made etc.
I also felt that our idea of having the material being cut out and pre holed worked to our advantage as it gave us more time to sew.
