P3 Fiction VS Non-Fiction Programme by https://padlet.com/nanhuaps/2lz7wvz78ez2wfh4 This project is closely aligned with Stellar Units 4, 5, and 6, with a focus on fiction texts. Students will take on the real-world challenge of addressing the low borrowing rate of fiction books in the NHPS library. Working in groups, they will brainstorm and design a new book sleeve for a selected title from the existing library collection. The goal is to make the books more appealing and engaging to their peers through creative redesigns that may include new visuals, updated blurbs, and compelling taglines. However, this activity, it could have been a second lesson as it will then coincide with the first non fiction text on Animals.


    My class could not able to finish the book cover for this activity. We will continue the design of book cover and blurb at the start of Term 3. Thank you for coming out with this idea. It is in alignment with the Stellar Books that they are reading.

To give them enough time to complete their book sleeves to the best of their ability, I think it would be worthwhile to stretch this activity over an additional lesson. The task was accessible and enjoyable, and it tied in nicely with World Book Day and our current focus on non-fiction texts.

    It was great to see students discussing and coming up with fun, creative ideas for writing and designing their book covers. This lesson works well in both the Thinking Room and the classroom, offering flexibility in how it’s delivered.

    One idea for enhancing the flow of the project would be to give students the book sleeve template at the start of the first lesson. This way, they can build each section gradually over the weeks, rather than completing parts separately on different worksheets and pasting them later. Providing plain paper for initial planning and design discussions could also support students in preparing their ideas before starting on the final product.
