In the article, "Seven Keys to Effective Feedback", Grant Wiggins says, "No time to give and use feedback actually means 'no time to cause learning'". Without consistent and meaningful feedback teachers will continue to have to reteach concepts. Academic feedback is more strongly and consistently linked to any other teacher behavior. Quality feedback is both actionable and simple. When feedback is actionable and user-friendly, improvements are more accessible

One great thing about feedback is that it "moves student learning forward" (Williams 2007). In fact, you may already be giving feedback and not realizing because quality feedback can be given in a number of different modalities. Williams cites Saphier in saying that feedback can be "given orally," such as when you ask a student what part they are struggling with and provide specific feedback to that area of challenge and also that written feedback can "support students in finding errors for themselves". So, in providing feedback you support students in helping themselves, and ultimately might make less work for yourself.
