we had the LACSA lesson in which we were taught how to create stories on events that occurred in our lives, and we were asked to share a story or poem that caught our attention. I shared an arabic proverb :"الصبر مفتاح الفرج" ,"Patience is the key to relief."This proverb highlights the idea that enduring difficulties with patience often leads to a positive outcome or solution. It encourages perseverance and trusting that hardships will eventually pass.

I learned about time management and its importance and significance in our daily lives and my future career as a physician. I learned to set priorities, create schedules, and balance multiple tasks. This is important in medicine, where I’ll need to handle patient cases, stay current with medical knowledge, and make quick decisions. Practicing time management now helps me stay organized, efficient, and prepared for the challenges in the future.

In my learning support class, I was taught the importance of academic integrity and its role in maintaining fairness and trust in academic work. We learned about the ethical responsibility of producing original work and the consequences of academic dishonesty, such as plagiarism or cheating. The class emphasized the importance of properly citing sources to respect intellectual property and avoid misrepresentation. Through practical exercises, I practiced paraphrasing and referencing correctly, helping me understand how to acknowledge others' contributions while developing my own ideas. This foundational knowledge in academic integrity has encouraged me to approach my studies honestly and responsibly.

I arrived at Heathrow Airport on Friday, October 4th, feeling a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation. Everything felt unfamiliar but full of promise. After a long journey, my brother and I headed straight to the Maldron Hotel in Brighton Centre, which would be my base for the first week of this new chapter.

Even though I was tired, I couldn’t sit still. I left my bags in the room and made my way to the Watts Building to collect my PRB card and officially enrol at UBIC. Holding that card in my hand felt like a small but important milestone, it made everything real.

Later that day, my brother and I walked around Brighton and went up to the I360, where I saw many places that I would visit later.

Monday, October 7th, was my first official day of studying at UBIC. Walking into the classroom that morning, I felt a little overwhelmed but also proud. I had made it here. That entire first week was a blend of discovery, adjustment, and quiet excitement.

When we learned about positivity in our learning support class, it really made me think about how our mindset can affect the way we learn and interact with others. We talked about the power of positive thinking, and how focusing on what we can do, instead of what we can’t, helps us stay motivated and confident.

One part that stood out to me was when we shared ways to stay positive, even during tough times. It reminded me that being kind to ourselves, encouraging others, and not giving up are all part of having a positive attitude. I also realized how much a positive environment can help us do better in school and feel happier overall.

Since that lesson, I’ve been trying to stay more hopeful, especially when things get hard. It’s not always easy, but I’ve learned that a little bit of positivity can make a big difference.

Empathy means putting yourself in someone else’s shoes, and it helps build stronger, kinder relationships with the people around us.

We talked about how listening carefully, being patient, and showing kindness are all ways to show empathy. One of the activities we did helped me see how everyone faces different challenges, even if they don’t always show it. That made me want to be more thoughtful about how I treat others.

Since that lesson, I’ve been trying to be more understanding and less quick to judge. What matters most is how we deal with it. We explored different strategies like deep breathing, talking to someone we trust, staying organized, and taking breaks when things feel overwhelming.

One thing that stood out to me was learning how important it is to recognize stress early so we can manage it before it gets too heavy. We also shared some of our own ways of relaxing or calming down, which made me realize that we all cope in different ways and that’s okay.

Since that lesson, I’ve been more mindful of my stress levels, especially during busy times. I’ve started using some of the techniques we learned in class, and they really help me feel more in control. It reminded me that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.

Celebrating Kuwaiti National Day at college was a truly special experience for me. As a Kuwaiti student studying abroad, sharing a piece of my culture with classmates and staff made me feel incredibly proud and connected to home.

The college created a warm and festive atmosphere, and I was happy to see so many people interested in learning about Kuwait’s history, traditions, and national pride. We decorated the space with our national colours, red, green, white, and black and shared traditional Kuwaiti food, music, and stories. Seeing the Kuwaiti flag displayed and hearing kind words from others about our country filled me with joy.

Fun Fact: Kuwait has two national days, the first on the 25th of February, which celebrates the ascension of Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah to the throne in 1950. He is known as the "Father of the Constitution" because he led many reforms and helped modernize the country, including introducing the constitution in 1962. National Day honors his leadership and Kuwait’s development as an independent and sovereign state. And the second is on the 26th of February, which marks the liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi occupation in 1991 during the Gulf War. After seven months of occupation, an American led coalition helped free Kuwait. Liberation Day is a reminder of the resilience of the Kuwaiti people and the importance of freedom and peace.
