This is because during sunset on Earth, light waves belonging to the blue part of the spectrum are scattered by gas molecules in the atmosphere. There aren't many of them on Mars. Instead, there's dust that scatters red waves, causing the sky to turn blue as the Sun sets.

A very interesting fact, but I didn't study it any further. I never thought about it, and I couldn’t even guess. I had a theory: Pirates wear a look 'cause there’s no eye underneath, he lost it in battle. But it’s not true! There is a hypothesis that pirates used an eye patch to adapt to the dark. The battle was fought below deck after the hijacking, and artificial lighting was rare at the time, and the hold was dark. 
The eyes adapt quickly from night light to daylight, but it takes longer to adjust to darkness. It’s hard to fight when you can’t see your attackers. To prevent that, pirates on deck put a blindfold on. When they went below deck, they just filmed it. But there is no evidence for this theory, and its opponents note that deliberately closing one eye narrows the field of vision, and in combat, it could have cost a pirate his life. But still, there are training manuals for airmen that say that you cover one eye when the lighting changes. 

This fact really got me thinking about the surrounding diesel, which seems so simple and normal, but there might be some kind of meaning to it!
