Harmoniums are pianos that need air to make noise so thats why one of them was flapping some thingy majigy. The Pung (I think) is a drum with 2 sides. I also think this fits into our culture because they are using their hands to sing which is very popular in India.

Les Champs-Élysées | Elisa Mia

Title: Les Champs-Élysées
Artist: Joe Dassin
Place: France
Link to song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JhYYUWOBBs

"Les Champs-Elysées" is a classic by Joe Dassin, and it refers to a well-known avenue in Paris. It is well known for is a monument known as the Arc de Triomphe, which was commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1836. It was commissioned in order to celebrate his victories in the war.
This song means a lot to me as I lived in the 16th arrondissement, which is very close to the Champs-Élysées. This is evident in the lyrics I roughly translated saying, "In the sun, in the rain, in the afternoon or at midnight, there is everything you want on Champs-Élysées." This gives me a sense of nostalgia, as I would often walk down the avenue with my friends no matter what the weather was like. We would buy crêpes and sit on the bench looking at the cars going down the roundabout. Typically, when we would commute to restaurants; there would be rain, and when we went home after a late dinner we would regularly arrive home at midnight. Thus, why the lyrics make me feel like I'm at home. Moreover, the song touches on a cliché as Paris is known for being the city of love shown in my roughly translated French,
"Two lovers, all dazed
From the long night.
And from the Étoile to the Concorde
An orchestra with a thousand strings,
All the birds of the point of the day
Are singing love"
Overall, I think this song really shows France's pride and beauty, but also includes a common stereotype. I think that Joe Dassin did a great job including both, possibly because of him being a French-American. This song is still known today even though it is very old and even though the lyrics may not seem to have a lot of meaning it is still beautiful and depicts the classic french music style you often hear when listening to old songs.

Name of the song: Kavadi Attam
Artist: Veeramanidasan

This song is a Tamil traditional folk song. This is related to my culture because of several reasons but I will give 2 reasons for now:

1. This song has a high rate of fame in Chennai - Tamil nadu (my motherland). This song is for a god called Muruga. Muruga is the predominating deity in the Tamil caste. I am from Tamil Nadu and I have heard such songs in my motherland which showcases our tradition in a grand manner.

2. This song is also sung for dances that take place in Chennai. Chennai celebrates the Kavadi Attam songs more that any other genre because of its unique lyrics, and the song's dedication towards the culture and the lord. This song fully satisfies Tamil culture and does play a role in patriotism.

https://youtu.be/4QIlFuSkAX4
This song has no lyrics. This song is more traditional as it includes the National dance of Pakistan the Bhangra which is a type of dance native to the Punjab region of Pakistan which then spread all over Pakistan. The main instrument is a dhol which is an instrument used in weddings and ceremonial celebrations. It is like a drum. I am comparing my song to Sasmit’s song. There are multiple similarities between the 2 songs. First of all the instruments used are the same. The maybe called by different names but the instruments are usually the same. The dance practice is also very similar. This is because Pakistan and India were one big country prior to British colonisation. After the British came and went, the 2 countries were formed therefore they have shared almost the same culture for hundreds of years. This song and dance is also used commonly in weddings to. The dance has originated from the eastern province of the subcontinent called Punjab which is in both countries and then spread from there.
