A Braille keyboard is a special type of keyboard, usually featuring raised dots, that is used by visually impaired people to enter data into the computer. In contrast to the standard keyboard, Braille keyboards have a single key that represents each dot.

To enter a single character into a Braille keyboard, an individual presses a combination of keys at once. A Braille keyboard also includes a space bar just like standard keyboards. However, it is common to find blind people using the standard keyboard instead of the Braille one. They do this after remembering the keys on the standard keyboard. Braille keyboards are, however, very useful to newly blind individuals who may not have remembered the keys on the standard keyboard.

Standard computer mice require constant movement of the hand, wrist and arm to operate. As such, they pose many problems for people of all age groups with disabilities. In addition, users who spend long periods at the computer can develop repetitive strain injury as a consequence of this constant mouse movement. A joystick is basically replacing the mouse on the computer and making it easier for the person who has a disability.

For use with computers,

analogue audio must be converted into digital signals. This requires analog-to-digitalconversion. For a computer to decipher the signal, it must have a digital database, or vocabulary, of words or syllables, and a speedy means of comparing this data with signals. The speech patterns are stored on the hard drive and loaded into memory when the program is run. A comparator checks these stored patterns against the output of the A/D converter. This could be used for someone who struggles to use their hands on the phone or for someone who is blind. Siri is a good example of a voice recognition, however it is only available on iPhones. You can access it by holding down on the home button or you can go into settings and you can activate siri by just saying "hey siri" and it will talk back to you and ask what you need help with.
