This is dramatic because Kino does not know that Juana already knows those things.
*Situational irony- At the beginning of the story Kino is a good, peaceful man but then he becomes evil. This is situational because we didn't expect for Kino to change.

Kino- "Kino, in his pride and youth and strength". Kino is cautious, dangerous, and brave. At the beginning of this story, Kino was a nice wise man, and took care of his family, after he found the pearl, he became dangerous and very cautious, he even killed a man. Kino also did no listen much to his wife Juana, he always told her to hush. When Kino went to town to sell his pearl, he got rejected and the pearl dealers told him that the pearl was "fools gold" and the most they would give him was 1,000 pesos. After Kino got rejected, he decided to head to the capital. Before they were ready to leave,Juana was going to throw the pearl in the ocean, so he ran to her, grabbed her hand and threw to the ground and kicked her side, after that he grabbed the pearl to go back to the brush house, but he got attacked by "the dark ones", so he struck to save his life, and he killed "the dark one".

Juana- "That good wife Juana". Juana is very calm, nice, caring wife. Juana was very scared that Coyotito would die from the scorpion sting, she always prayed and hoped that everything would turn out alright. As it gets closer to the end of the story, Juana thinks that it is better to throw away the pearl and get all of the evil away from their family. She also thought that it was better to keep their hopes low when they were pearl diving, so she was scared that Kino's "hopefulness" would bring bad luck and ruin their lives for good. One night Juana sneaks out the brush house with the pearl, she went to the coast line and she was ready to throw it in the water, but Kino comes behind her and strikes her and kicks her side. After that, Kino gets attacked, and kills "the dark ones".
