John Cabot, and Columbus both got a expedition to sail for a new route to Asia to trade goods more efficiently but never made it, and instead stumbled upon the New World, and Explored. John Cabot was searching for a trade route for England in the first place because the Silk Road trade routes were too dangerous because of the pirates that stalked the areas like Columbus. John Cabot was issued by King Henry Vll to find a route for England through water rather than land so they could bypass themselves past the pirates, and still trade their goods for India. John Cabot and Christopher Columbus expeditions were very similar but, were very different in the one fact they were not sponsored by the same nation. John Cabot was endorsed by King Henry Vll of England, while Columbus was sponsored by King Ferdinand of Spain which means they were searching routes for different countries.

Both Christopher Columbus, and John Cabot did not find the route to Asia they were hoping for and stumbled upon the Americas where they established land for their countries. Being sponsored by different countries, Spain and England now both held land in the Americas. Both John Cabot, and Christopher Columbus thought they had found Asia, and India so they claimed land so they could only use the route but realizing the country did not hold the riches they thought they explored the land and found natives. John Cabot said he found signs of habitation but saw no people unlike Christopher Columbus, and not meeting any people he was able to explore more but records do not show what was found, only that he told the King when he came back on his 1st Voyage and went for a 2nd Voyage.

His first expedition he had stumbled upon the New World by accident but he went back to Britain
To receive another patent for a second voyage this time explore the new land and see if there is a passage over land to Japan. He didn’t find it but he was also ordered to find goods from the New land and bring it back for the European Market.
John Cabot’s groundwork for settlement of the New World for the British brought trade where the natives like the Maliseet would trade furs, and in turn they got manufactured goods like guns, pots, and knifes to make their lives easier. Where they would interact and learn from each other, like how settlers had to learn how to farm this new land.

Many traders that first came to Nowaday Canada by following Cabot’s Route meant to set up trade routes for goods like beaver pelts with First Nations that in turn gave them pots, guns, and other manufactured goods that weakened their old ways, and made them vulnerable. Its immediate effect was good for the Natives but after fur trade for awhile they had no way to get the goods they depended on from trade like ammo for guns so they could hunt.
Missionaries then came over too realizing there was a mass population of people that could be converted into Christianity. The Natives weren’t always so open to it but had no power so they obliged. There methods weren’t always the best, and gave them limited choices, making this a negative affect for Natives because it's taking them away from their ways as people.
Then there were of course the deadly diseases the settler brought from Europe unintentionally that made many First Nation Tribes dramatically decline in population, causing mass death, and making the Natives even more powerless to the Europe control/pressure.This was definitely a negative affect that the Natives didn’t have a built up immunity to to combat.

These were the letters that King Henry Vll sent to John Cabot that authorized him to go on his voyage to find new routes to Asia. This is significant because these gave him the permission to go through the ocean backed by all of Europe.
