All of the boys crash landed in a plane on a island and the pilot died. Ralph met a boy named Piggy and they found a conch shell on the island. Ralph blew the conch shell and boys started coming out of the woods and joined together. So the island helped bring the boys together with its resources. They had a vote to decide who was the chief of the group and who would decide what to do to survive on the island. It was between Jack and Ralph and Ralph won. Ralph, Jack, and Simon went together to explore the island a little more. Golding to us was trying to compare the island to the ship of boys he saw getting killed. So to us he is trying to this book a little bit of a history lesson. The reason we think this is because their plane crashed and left them alone which sort of happened to the boys on the ship.
