There are plenty of waterfalls and the weather is amazing (rainy, chilly, but also very sunny at times). You can get here by car from Santiago de QTO (the capital of Queretero) and could stay in Pinal de Amoles. In addition to this, most of the tour guides are part of the local community (which I consider to be a lot more sustainable than other tourist atractions in Mexico). It’s an interesting environment: a highway runs through it, and the homes on the ocean side are generally owned by “expats,” Europeans and North Americans, while the inland side is mostly made up of Dominican (“local”) residents. The restaurants along the beach have their menus in at least four languages (Spanish, English, French, and German; sometimes Spanish isn’t even the first language listed); and the restaurants in the inland side are only in Spanish. I could navigate between both sides of the town given my background (I lived and worked in the inland community). Many of the shops and houses were built on hills so you can see the gorgeous landscapes and beautiful architecture.

It’s know for its incredible masquerade festivals and also the heartwarming kindness of members of the community. My village also literally has the best local dishes; some of which include, bush meat, abacha and ofe akwu.
