Upon discussing quiz answer in class, I learn that DOE regulations and policies which is created by human is against what Sejahtera, a concept that Islam taught us. DOE put guidelines that a manufacturing industry must produce minimal waste such as limiting the chemical waste of mercury to the lowest amount as low as possible in order to sustain environment. However, what Islam taught is different. As teacher taught in class, there is not a single ayat in Al-Quran that tell us to cut trees or cut less trees, but there are few ayat that forbid us from cutting down trees. Even in war situation, Islam put guideline to not cutting down trees belonging to opponent.

As we know, trees require nutritious soil in order to grow. Therefore, it is very important for us to ensure the soil nutrition. However, our environment has been polluted which also affect the soil and cause soil degradation. Soil degradation refers to the loss of a land's production capacity as measured by soil fertility, biodiversity, and deterioration. One of factor that contribute to it is unsustainable agricultural practice. I figured that organic compost can help to restore it.

Thus, I have been collecting organic leftovers from my daily meal in order to make organic compost in a container. When the container has been filled with organic leftovers, I will bury it in the soil in the garden behind my house to cover up its smell. The leftovers will rot and be absorbed by the soil thus providing it with nutrition that will help trees to grow better. This will help us to protect our environment.
