What social commentary do you think your author was making with this novel? What is the author saying or warning about today's world?
The entire book is based around a second civil war who cause was abortion. This the heartland war and Risa says¨everyone lost¨ p.325. I believe she says this because the author believes there is no right answer when it comes to abortion. Unwinding seems like a riduculous conclusion to it. I think that is what the author is trying to warn about.

What aspects of the Dystopian society are found in your novel? What statement is the author trying to make by utilizing that particular aspect? What is the change that your character/s are attempting to bring about? Do you think they will be successful and if so, will the change bring what they hope?
The children tend to live in paranoia because their parents could have them unwound at any point. Connor even says that he hates his parents for doing it. But he also think¨he feels bad for making them feel bad about unwinding him.¨Being unwound is also a dehumanized state.

Hero's Journey:

Thinking back to the aspects of the Hero's Journey that we studied during the Odyssey, What are some of the elements that are also utilized in your novel and with your protagonist?
My characters are loosely experiencing the hero's journey. They have the call to adventure but no magical help. Maybe you could consider how the three protagonists find each other as a magical help. They find helpers such as Susan, the teacher that helps them escape, and Sonia. Sonia helps them by letting them hide in her store. Sonia also helps the characters try to send their possible last words. She says " Say everything that is in your heat and don't hold back." pg.109.
This helps all the children clear their mind and ultimately feel better about themselves. I think only one character has had their big revelation. That character is Lev and he has realized he does not want to be unwound. I am starting to see the most transformation in Connor. He is starting to learn to think about situations before acting on them. I bet at the end of the story the characters could go back to their homes like how the heros journey says they'll go back to where they started.

Is he/she experiencing success or roadblocks, and how is the success or roadblocks being handled?
Throughout the entire book the runaways have been skating by using a lot of luck but they are starting to see their flaws and how to control some urges to do things.
