The Voyager spacecraft were launched by NASA in 1977. Voyager 2 was launched first, on August 20, and Voyager 1 followed on September 5. Both of them took off from Cape Canaveral in Florida. Their mission was to explore the faraway planets in the solar system. Now, they are travelling deep into space and sending back important information.

Voyager 1 visited Jupiter in 1979 and Saturn in 1980. It took pictures of Jupiter’s Great Red Spot and found new moons. Voyager 2 also visited Jupiter in 1979, then Saturn in 1981. After that, it went to Uranus in 1986 and Neptune in 1989. Uranus and Neptune have not been visited by any other spacecraft since then.

The termination shock is a place in space where the solar wind slows down a lot. The solar wind is a stream of tiny particles that the Sun blows out into space. At this point, the solar wind gets weaker because it meets particles from outside our solar system. This area is the start of a zone where the Sun’s particles mix with particles from space. It shows how far the Sun’s power reaches.

The heliopause is the boundary where the solar wind from the Sun stops. It is the edge of the area that the Sun’s energy can reach. Beyond the heliopause, space is filled with particles and energy from other stars. It’s like the "bubble" around our solar system ends here. This is where interstellar space begins.

Interstellar space is the area between the stars. It's a huge, empty space with very few particles or things in it. Even though it looks empty, it’s not completely empty—there are tiny particles and radiation floating around. This space is beyond our solar system, where the planets and the Sun's influence end. It's a part of the universe that connects different star systems.
