33CE The Mediterranean period

During 33CE the Romans ruled during the Mediterranean period. The more wealthy and powerful the Romans became, the more able they were to further expand their empire. The Roman Empire lasted for 507 years which is outstanding, but unfortunately their journey had to end. The fall of The Roman Empire was effected by several events but one of the main causes was the spread of Christianity and how it impacted on the Empire. To communicate with one another during this period, was to walk, talk or to write letters to each other. The many common languages that were expressed throughout The Roman Empire, were Greek, Hebrew, Latin and Aramaic. Slavery was used to transport many goods, but they had thought of many ways to help themselves, for example when the prisoners and slaves built the wheel which made it a lot easier getting the marble down. There were many ethnic and cultural groups living within the regions many of which are Galileans, Hebrews, and Greek these are only some of the cultural groups living in regions. St Paul visited many of major cities such as Antioch, Medes, Elamites and Parthians in hope of converting people to the Christian faith.

The significance of Saul of Tarsus

St Paul was known as Saul before he became such a significant Christian. Before his conversion he was a valued Jew who helped persecute Christians, because he saw them as a threat to their religion. On the way to Damascus Paul was blinded by the light and heard Jesus’ voice who said “Saul, Saul why do you persecute me?” After the message from Jesus, Paul travelled to Damascus with assistance from his friends. From this day ford he has enlightened by God then showed devotion to his new religion preaching to the word of the Gospel. St Paul so significant because of what he has become instead of what he was. St Paul is now a figure head of the Christian faith, but before he was the one persecuting Christians.

St Paul’s first journey was over a large period of time in totally he went to 9 different areas to preach to God’s word.
Post 4 - Themes in Paul's epistles

The purpose of Paul's letters was to spread the Good News and to convert many people into Christianity. St Paul epistles had many different themes showing throughout them such as Jesus' death, the resurrection, righteousness and salvation, hope and joy, and finally the Christian community. All these themes have been displayed within his letters. The first three themes expressed within Paul's letters was the significance of how Jesus died to forgive us for our sins and to open up the doors of internal life and also to allow Christians to begin their new life, Christians were able to achieve righteousness and salvation through Jesus Christ. The last two themes that are shown in his letters tell Paul's community that Christians are very devoted to their faith and that Jesus and God are very significant people to their community.

Post 5 - Identify and explain a cultural challenge for Paul that is revealed in one of his epistles

Circumcision was a huge cultural struggle that Paul reveals in one of his letters. Each time St Paul set off to go to his journey he always knew that there would be many challenges trying to convert people to Christianity. One of the major problem that Paul faced was converting Jews and to show them a new way of accepting Jesus without doing anything to yourself. Paul tries to show Jews that God and Jesus will accept us even if we don't have particular rituals throughout our day. The Jews believed that they still had to do specific rituals when they became Christian. However Paul showed them that you don't have to participate in rituals anymore to make God accept, he will love you for who you are.

I have chosen the scripture passage Philippians 2:1-5 and throughout this passage it shows one of Paul's message which is the 5th theme that we are one, and what we do to others we will be effected. In this scripture passage he expresses that if we have a common belief or value, we should come together as one big community and call our world a common home. This message should be valued in today's world because of how we treat others with a common belief in God. For example Muslims are effecting many our country to satisfy their and yet we believe in the same God. I believe that this scripture passage shows our world that we are all one.
